There will be a board of education meeting on Wednesday, January 25, at 7:00 p.m. located in the Mary Volz School library.
If the resolution that appears on Wednesday’s agenda is approved by board members, this will end public voting on the annual school budget.
“Approval of resolution to eliminate vote on the annual budget and to move the election of school board members to the general election.”

Am I reading this correctly? Eliminate the vote on budget? Then who determines it? How does it get approved?

Seriously?? Is that even legal?? Only a select few would be able to vote on a budget that could raise my taxes??

If you read your newspapers, the legislators have been working on legislation to this effect. It is legal. They also want to move the vote on board of ed members to November. In the long run, this will save taxpapers money to only have 1 election and eliminate the April for board of ed.

Some of work every day and don’t have the luxury of reading everything in the newspapers, thank you for mentioning it. In the long run it appears the taxpayers need to vote on the school budget.

I’m just wondering if the money we save for only having one election , will really save us money in the long run. I would like to know, who will it be that decides what amount my taxes will be?
